The White House has been accused of a "classless" celebration to the United States' win over Canada on Sunday.
The White House's official account on X took to social media following the win over Canada on Sunday. The United States topped Canada, 2-1, in overtime. Jack Hughes scored the game-winning goal in overtime, giving the United States its first gold medal in men's hockey since 1980.
But following the win, the White House decided to taunt Canada, sharing a photo of a bald eagle striking a goose.
Many, though, did not enjoy the photo, accusing it of being "classless."
"Classless (expletive) country," one fan wrote.
"Classless," George Conway added.
"Come on, man. Was excited as hell for this game and it was incredible, chanting USA in my living room trying not to wake my wife, get on Twitter and see this from the White House. This is embarrassing. This admin has 0 class in every situation," one fan added.
"Lots of gracious Americans are on here acknowledging that was a classic game, good on both teams, well done USA. Then along comes the White House. The official account of the President of the United States. Donald Trump ruins everything he touches," one fan added.
"What a classless post. I’m a father of three sports-obsessed young men studying hard for careers in this field. I’ve had to struggle to teach them basic sportsmanship against the barstool tide," one fan added.
"No class. What a horrible example for American kids," one fan added.
President Trump reacts to the win
President Trump weighed in on the win on his social media platform, Truth Social.
"Congratulations to our great U.S.A. Ice Hockey team. THEY WON THE GOLD. WOW!" he wrote on the social media platform.
"WHAT A GAME!!!" he added. "LOTS OF WINNING!!!"
