When we're already talking about which team could end up with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, you can bet it's because of how good next year's quarterback class could end up being.
With the likes of Arch Manning (Texas) and Dante Moore (Oregon) at the top of the board, and a talented second tier of quarterback prospects that includes LaNorris Sellers (South Carolina), Julian Sayin (Ohio State), and CJ Carr (Notre Dame), landing next year's top pick could transform a franchise from bottom-feeder to playoff contender.
But which team is most likely to land at the top of the board?
Most early mock drafts have the same handful of teams expected to be in the running. The Miami Dolphins are clearly in a rebuild, but they have enough talent to surprise some people this year, and might not be as bad as expected. The New York Jets are in a similar boat, but they also currently own a trio of first-round picks in the 2027 NFL Draft, which could allow them to trade up for the No. 1 pick if they don't earn it outright. The Arizona Cardinals should be in the running, especially if they can't figure out Jacoby Brissett's contract situation. And after trading away Myles Garrett, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Cleveland Browns enter the conversation.
The Cardinals and Jets both picked quarterbacks just a couple of months ago in the 2026 NFL Draft, but a third-round pick like Carson Beck or a fourth-round pick like Cade Klubnik shouldn't keep those teams from making a play for one of next year's elite prospects at the position.
