The USMNT will be playing its opening match of the 2026 World Cup against Paraguay tonight at the Los Angeles Stadium. Team USA will look to get a good start in a fairly even group.
The USMNT is in Group D with Paraguay, Australia, and Turkiye. The USMNT played two friendly matches before the World Cup.
Team USA defeated Senegal 3-2 with goals from Sergiño Dest, Christian Pulisic, and Folarin Balogun. Their previous match was a friendly match against Germany, where they lost 2-1.

Antonee Robinson scored the equalizer for the USMNT with a screamer outside the box, which went past Oliver Baumann.
Paraguay's last friendly before the World Cup was against Nicaragua at the Estadio Ueno Defensores del Chaco in Asuncion, Paraguay.
Paraguay won the match 4-0 with goals from Alejandro Romero, Miguel Almiron, Matias Galarza, and Alexandro Maidana.
The USMNT and Paraguay played each other in a friendly match back in November 2025, where the USMNT won 2-1 with goals from Giovanni Reyan and Folarin Balogun. Alex Arce scored the goal for Paraguay in that match.
