The Indiana Pacers will start their regular season on the road as they go head-to-head with the New Orleans Pelicans Wednesday.
The Pacers are expected to bounce back this season after a rough 2025-26 campaign without star player Tyrese Haliburton. Indiana finished with a franchise-worst record of 19-63, but Hali is back and will be surrounded by talents like Ivica Zubac, Pascal Siakam and Andrew Nembhard. Experts predict this team might be a playoff contender once again.
Meanwhile, the Pelicans will get the luxury of a home opener on Wednesday night — a necessary advantage for the team. The franchise is entering a new era under head coach Jamahl Mosley, who was hired in May. With much of the same core roster, New Orleans isn't expected to have a breakthrough season.
