Portugal has always had world-class talent, but it has never felt quite like this. The Seleção goes into this World Cup as one of the favourites and hoping to finally add football’s biggest prize.
Led by Roberto Martínez, Portugal have been drawn into Group K alongside DR Congo, Uzbekistan, and Colombia. With a squad packed with experience and talent, many expect them to reach the knockout stages and challenge for the title.
Cristiano Ronaldo is making his 6th and final World Cup appearance.

Can Portugal Win the 2026 World Cup?
Portugal have a genuine chance of going all the way and have the talent and depth to compete with any side in the competition.
One reason for that optimism is the strong Paris Saint-Germain connection within the squad. Portugal have 4 players - Vitinha,Nuno Mendes, João Neves, and Gonçalo Ramos- who played major roles in PSG's back-to-back UEFA Champions League title wins.
The biggest question is whether Portugal can consistently deliver against the very best teams in the knockout rounds.
What Could Portugal's Route to the Final Look Like?
If Roberto Martínez's side win the group, they could avoid some of the tournament favorites in the early rounds before facing a series of heavyweight opponents later in the competition.
