The two companies are launching a nationwide search for a “Chief World Cup Watcher,” a role that comes with a $50,000 salary and one very simple-sounding task: watch all 104 matches of the World Cup across the 39-day tournament.
It is basically a full-time World Cup marathon, but instead of calling it procrastination, FOX is making it a job title. For fans who were already planning to clear their schedules, this might be the most tempting application of the year.
The news was confirmed by Yahoo Sports on X who said, “FOX, along with Indeed, is launching a nationwide search to fill the position of "Chief World Cup Watcher"”
So What Exactly Does the Job Entail?

One fan will be picked to spend the tournament watching every single match and will earn $50,000 for the assignment. The job title is Chief World Cup Watcher, which sounds made up, but is very real.
The catch is that this is not a quiet couch-and-remote setup. The selected fan will be placed in a custom viewing space in Times Square, where they will follow the full tournament while helping create a live, public-facing World Cup experience.
There is also a content side to the role. Whoever gets picked will need to post and share reactions, updates, and social clips along the way, so FOX and Indeed are probably looking for someone who can be entertaining on camera, not just someone who loves soccer.

Applications are being handled through Indeed, and fans also need to make their case with a social media video using #ChiefWorldCupWatcher. The winner is expected to be announced on June 6 during FOX’s Red Sox-Yankees broadcast.
