Spain and Belgium face each other today at Los Angeles Stadium in a quarterfinal clash at the 2026 World Cup.
This matchup has all the makings of a classic, with both teams in excellent form heading into the quarterfinals.
Spain topped their group before defeating Austria and Portugal to reach the World Cup quarterfinals for the first time since winning the tournament in 2010.
Their 1-0 victory over Portugal also marked a special milestone for goalkeeper Unai Simón, who set a World Cup record with 609 consecutive minutes without conceding a goal.
One of the biggest reasons behind La Roja's success has been its defense. Luis de la Fuente's side has yet to concede a goal in the tournament, setting a new World Cup record for the longest streak of six clean sheets.
That remarkable defensive run has also helped Spain extend its unbeaten streak to 35 matches, dating back to March 2024.

Now, Spain faces a Belgium team that eliminated the USMNT in the Round of 16 and will once again look to derail its opponent's World Cup hopes. This match also marks Belgium's fourth World Cup quarterfinal appearance.
What Happens If Spain Win, Lose or Draw?
If Spain Wins:
A victory would send the reigning European champions to the semifinals, where they would face 2018 World Cup champions and 2022 runners-up France.
It would be a difficult test for both teams, as France's attack would have to find a way past a Spain defense that has not conceded a goal in the tournament.
If Spain Draws:
If the match is tied after 90 minutes, it will go to extra time. If the score is still level after extra time, the winner will be decided by a penalty shootout.
If Spain Loses:
A loss would eliminate Spain from the tournament and send Belgium through to the World Cup semifinals.
