Unlike the group stage, there are no qualification permutations or points to consider. This is a single-elimination knockout match, meaning one team will advance to the Round of 16 while the other will see its 2026 World Cup journey come to an end.

What Happens If Spain Beat Austria
A victory would send Spain through to the Round of 16, where they would face Portugal or Croatia on July 6.
La Roja would then travel to Dallas for their Round of 16 fixture.
If Spain continues its run, a potential quarterfinal could feature one of the following teams:

If Spain Draw With Austria
A draw after 90 minutes does not eliminate either team.
Because this is a knockout fixture, the match would go to 30 minutes (15 minutes x2) of extra time if the scores are level at the end of regulation.
