The final matchday of Group A features a crucial clash at the Monterrey Stadium, where South Korea face off against South Africa with a spot in the Round of 32 on the line.
Mexico are already at the top of the group, leaving the remaining three teams to battle for the second automatic qualification spot, or a potential lifeline as one of the best third-placed teams.
South Korea currently occupy second place with three points. They kicked off their World Cup campaign with an impressive 2-1 comeback victory against Czechia. However, they couldn't carry that momentum, falling to a 1-0 defeat against the co-hosts, Mexico in the second match.
Whereas, South Africa find themselves at the bottom of the group with one point. They opened their tournament with a 2-0 defeat to Mexico. In their second game, they recovered from back, relying on a late penalty to manage a 1-1 draw against Czechia.
South Korea's World Cup Knockout Qualification Scenarios
If South Korea wins:
If South Korea win the match, they will guarantee their progression to the Round of 32. A victory moves them to six points, securing second place in Group A regardless of what happens in the other match between Mexico and Czechia.
For South Africa, a loss confirms their mathematical elimination from the tournament.
If South Korea draws:
If the match ends in a draw, South Korea will still finish second in the group and qualify automatically with four points, provided Czechia do not defeat Mexico.

Even if Czechia manage an upset win over Mexico to tie South Korea on four points, South Korea hold the head-to-head advantage and a superior goal difference.
For South Africa, a draw moves them to two points, which locks them into either third or fourth place and effectively knocks them out of the tournament, as two points will not be enough to advance via the best third-placed team rule.
If South Korea loses:
If Bafana Bafana win the match, they will jump over South Korea to four points, automatically eliminating South Korea from the top two spots. South Africa will comfortably qualify in second place as long as Czechia draws or loses to Mexico.
If South Africa and Czechia both win, they will be tied on four points for second place, leaving the final qualification spot to be decided by goal difference.
For South Korea, a defeat leaves them stuck on three points, meaning they would have to hope Czechia drop points so Korea can finish third and also hope that their goal difference is strong enough to sneak through as one of the lucky third-placed teams.
