The Washington Mystics finished with a 16-28 record in 2025 and failed to make the playoffs. However, they did compete well with the Indiana Fever, splitting their four games 2-2.
For the 2026 campaign, the Mystics and Fever have three games scheduled against each other, with their first meeting set as early as May 15. That said, there's certainly plenty of excitement surrounding the upcoming matchups between them.
The Mystics have young and promising talent in second-year players Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen, who were both selected as All-Stars in their rookie seasons. Sure enough, it will be interesting to see whether they can take their games to the next level.
It's also worth noting that the Mystics were not able to play against Fever guard Caitlin Clark last season due to her injuries. With the Team USA star now fully healthy, though, she should be available when the two teams meet.
Aside from the May 15 game in Indiana, the Mystics and Fever will play each other on June 8 in Washington and on Sept. 20 in Indiana again.
The June 8 showdown is particularly noteworthy because the Mystics have a themed night planned for the game. Washington recently announced that the contest will be part of its "Hockey Crossover Night" in partnership with Vanda Pharmaceuticals.
While full details of the "Hockey Crossover Night" have yet to be revealed, fans who purchase the team's special ticket package will get two exclusive Mystics "crossover hockey jerseys."
The Mystics will host a total of 15 themed nights, including Pride Night, Salute to Service, Her Time to Play, SLAM Night and Space Jam Night.
As for the Fever, considering their popularity, it's not surprising to see them involved in the theme nights of other teams. For instance, the Chicago Sky also have a themed night in August when they play Clark and company.
