Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has not played since Jan. 30 due to a runner's knee. He has been sidelined since then, missing 25 straight games. During that stretch, the Warriors have faced daunting challenges, winning only nine games. Ahead of the final spread of the 2025-26 NBA season, the team is hoping to have him back in the lineup.

Missing Curry has been a significant blow to the Warriors. He's the Warriors' entire offensive engine, averaging 27.2 points on 39.1% shooting from deep in 39 games. Aside from his absence, Golden State has also missed Jimmy Butler, who is out for the rest of the campaign after suffering a torn ACL in his right knee.

The Athletic's Nick Friedell and Sam Amick reported on Tuesday that the Warriors star could return to face the Houston Rockets on Sunday.

“Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry is targeting Sunday’s home game against the Houston Rockets for his possible return, a league and team source told The Athletic on Tuesday afternoon,” the NBA reporters wrote.

This development followed Friedell and Amick's report that the four-time champion had a "successful" workout earlier in the day. Head coach Steve Kerr also told reporters ahead of the Warriors' game against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday about Curry's status.

Kerr told the media that Curry participated in a full 5-on-5 scrimmage with contact during their practice. However, he said that the two-time MVP remains out for tomorrow's bout.

The Athletic reporters revealed that the NBA star's status will continue to be monitored daily. Curry is "hopeful" to play a few games before the start of the Play-In Tournament.

“While Sunday’s game against the Rockets would leave five regular-season games for Curry, it’s unlikely he would play both sides of the Warriors’ final back-to-back next week (at home against the Lakers on April 9 and at Sacramento on April 10).”

Additionally, Friedell clarified the rumors about the Warriors shutting Curry down for the rest of the season. He appeared on Tuesday's episode of 95.7 The Game's "Willard & Dibs."

“The [Warriors] organization as a whole feels like Steph has earned the right to do whatever he'd like to do,” Friedell said.

The Warriors star has worked behind the scenes to address his injury and potentially return before the season ends. There are seven games left in the team's schedule before the Play-In begins on April 15.
