The Golden State Warriors are still waiting on Stephen Curry as they try to steady their season during a critical stretch. The veteran guard has now missed 22 straight games with a knee injury, and his absence has taken a clear toll on the team’s performance.

Golden State is 7-15 since Curry’s injury, and has struggled to generate consistent offense without its primary creator, slipping down the Western Conference standings and falling into play-in territory as the regular season winds down.

Curry, who is averaging 27.2 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game this season, remains central to any hopes the Warriors have of making a late push.

There had been optimism surrounding his recovery timeline. The Warriors previously announced that Curry would be ruled out for two road games but would be incorporated into live practice in the coming days, with a re-evaluation scheduled upon the team’s return home. The expectation was that he could take a step forward during that period, especially with Golden State preparing to open a homestand against the Brooklyn Nets.

However, that progression has not yet materialized. According to ESPN’s Anthony Slater, the Warriors announced that Curry will remain out against the Nets, as he still needs to be cleared for a scrimmage setting before returning to game action.

That update follows an earlier development, where Curry was not cleared for a full scrimmage on Sunday before the Warriors’ game against the Atlanta Hawks. Instead, he continued controlled on-court work and rehabilitation alongside team medical staff, including Rick Celebrini. The team emphasized that there has been no setback in his recovery, but noted that he is not yet ready to advance to the next stage.

The timing makes the news particularly disappointing. Golden State had hoped Curry would be nearing a return as they transitioned back home, especially with their playoff position becoming increasingly fragile.

His continued absence also comes amid further roster concerns. During Monday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks, Moses Moody suffered a season-ending torn patellar tendon in his left knee, removing another key contributor from the rotation and placing even more pressure on the team to stay competitive without its star guard.

The Warriors currently sit 10th in the Western Conference, and with 10 games remaining, their path to the postseason likely runs through the play-in tournament. Until Curry is fully cleared, Golden State will have to continue navigating this stretch without its most important player, with time quickly becoming their biggest opponent.
