Al Horford played a key role for the Golden State Warriors this past season. Despite dealing with multiple injuries throughout the campaign, the 6-foot-8 center averaged 8.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.1 blocks and 1.6 triples in 21.5 minutes per contest.
Horford was hampered by injuries in his 19th season in the NBA. He played just 45 out of Golden State’s 82 regular-season games. He was not available for back-to-back games throughout the campaign.
When he joined the Warriors as a free agent last summer, the five-time All-Star signed a two-year deal with the team. As it turns out, he might choose not to play out the final season of his contract.

Horford spoke to the press on Monday as part of the Warriors’ exit interview. This was after their season-ending loss to the Phoenix Suns in the play-in tournament on Friday.
When asked about retirement, Horford admitted that he has given serious thought to potentially hanging it up.
“That’s a good question,” he said. “Definitely, that’s been on my mind. I just enjoy playing and being in this position. Definitely taking all of that stuff into consideration.”
Horford has been through a lot in nearly two decades in the NBA. The Warriors are his fifth team after stints with the Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers and Oklahoma City Thunder.
Horford also has one NBA championship under his belt. He helped lead the Celtics to a title in 2024.
Horford, who is turning 40 in June, should make his decision soon. At this point, there is no guarantee that he will be back in 2026.
