Toronto Blue Jays superstar first basemanVladimir Guerrero Jr. has been having an incredible season at the plate despite the struggles of his team. The Blue Jays head into Sunday with a 16-17 record, which has them at third place in the American League East.

Despite the team's sub-.500 record, Guerrero has been phenomenal, slashing .331/.421/.438 with an OPS of .859, totaling a pair of home runs and 15 RBIs.

The five-time All-Star has started all 33 of Toronto's games this season, with 30 of those starts coming at first base and three as a designated hitter. On Sunday, the Blue Jays announced that Guerrero would be getting another day off from the field.

Toronto released its lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Minnesota Twins, as the Blue Jays look to take three out of four from Minnesota. Guerrero was listed as the DH for Sunday afternoon, batting third in the lineup.

He moves into the DH role that is usually held by George Springer, who is out of the lineup on Sunday after being hit by a pitch on Saturday.

The 27-year-old two-time Silver Slugger has been the Blue Jays' most consistent hitter through the first month of the season, leading the team in batting average, on-base percentage, hits and OPS.

He has had to make up for the injury bug, which has hurt Toronto tremendously so far. Stars like catcher Alejandro Kirk and outfielders Springer and Addison Barger, who have all missed time due to injuries, have made Guerrero that much more important to the Blue Jays' lineup.

With Guerrero at DH, Toronto looks to close out a series victory over the Twins on Sunday at Target Field. First pitch is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. ET and can be seen on Peacock.
