The Toronto Blue Jays are alive and looking to earn the third and final wild card spot in the American League. Toronto has a chance to claim its seventh consecutive series win if they are able to defeat the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday.
The Blue Jays have done it recently without first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr who is dealing with a head injury.
The 27-year-old is currently sidelined on the 7-day concussion injured list after being struck inadvertently in the head by New York Yankees shortstop George Lombard Jr. last Friday.
While Guerrero is in the midst of a down season, he has the track record for fans to still trust he can rise to the occasion. Not only is he a six-time All-Star, two-time Silver Slugger and Gold Glover, but he also earned an ALCS MVP last year when he helped send the Blue Jays to the World Series.

Guerrero remains the face of Toronto and the most recognizable player on the team, frequently teaming up with brands for special fan giveaways.
Before Wednesday’s game, Guerrero took to Instagram to announce a special contest in collaboration with sports drink brand Body Armor.
The prize is a personal meet and greet experience with Guerrero on September 11, along with an exclusive merch pack and two suite tickets to a game at Rogers Centre. Guerrero also provided instructions for how to enter by clicking the link in his bio.
On the injury front, Guerrero has been making progress since going down, taking part in baseball activities on Tuesday. He is first eligible to return to the starting lineup on Friday, and that remains a real possibility.
Getting Guerrero back in the lineup at full strength would give Toronto’s offense a huge boost as the Blue Jays enter what could be the most important stretch of their season.
