Vladimir Guerrero Jr. helped spark the Toronto Blue Jays’ offense in Saturday’s 1-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox, finishing 2-for-4 with a double and the club’s only run scored. Guerrero crossed the plate on George Springer’s RBI single in the fourth inning as Toronto improved to 46-52.
Despite the win, the Blue Jays remain fifth in the American League East and sit eighth in the AL wild card race, leaving them with plenty of ground to make up in the second half.
It has particularly been a challenging season for Guerrero. Through 93 games, the six-time All-Star is batting .265 with six home runs and 41 RBIs in 2026.

Injuries have limited the first baseman, who has battled a lingering back issue that prompted him to skip the 2026 MLB All-Star Game in order to focus on treatment and recovery.
After Saturday’s victory, Guerrero shared an update on his condition through interpreter Héctor Lebrón.
“It feels better right now, but I’m not going to stop doing all my treatment, rehab, recovery. I’m going to make sure my back feels okay for me to continue to have a good second half” (h/t The Athletic’s Mitch Bannon).
Guerrero is still searching for his first home run at Rogers Centre this season. He’ll get another opportunity to end that drought on Sunday when Toronto wraps up its three-game series against the White Sox.

The Blue Jays desperately need to turn things around during the second half of the season and will need Guerrero to stay healthy and play at his best.
