The Minnesota Vikings have taken their time with this one, and the league has noticed. After parting ways with general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, the Vikings made an unusual call. They pushed their GM search back until after the draft and hadn't formally interviewed a single candidate since.

That decision kept interim GM Rob Brzezinski's name in the conversation as a potential full-time option. Minnesota said they'd revisit the process in late April or early May, and they've held to that timeline. Now, the first major move in their search is coming into focus.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Vikings have requested an interview with Buffalo Bills assistant general manager Terrance Gray for their GM vacancy.

Terrance Gray's Vikings Connection

Gray is not a stranger to Minnesota. He spent 11 seasons with the organization working heavily in the southeast region and playing a key role under former GM Rick Spielman in shaping draft boards. He left for the Buffalo Bills in 2017 and has steadily climbed since then, moving from director of player personnel to assistant GM.

That rise potentially drew outside attention. Gray interviewed with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2024 and the Tennessee Titans in 2025, though neither pursuit made it past the early stages. Minnesota revisiting that relationship raises a simple question. Is he ready to run a front office on his own?

Other Names in the Vikings GM Search

There are several other candidates drawing interest. Ed Dodds, currently the assistant GM with the Indianapolis Colts, has come up consistently in these conversations. His scouting background gives him a strong profile for a team that values that side of the operation.

Dodds interviewed with the Detroit Lions in 2021, the Los Angeles Chargers in 2024 and the Tennessee Titans last year before they ultimately hired Mike Borgonzi.

James Liipfert from the Houston Texans is another name gaining traction. He leads their college scouting department and carries experience built within the New England Patriots system, which tends to carry weight in front office evaluations.

Minnesota's search is moving, even if it moved slower than most expected. With Gray's interview request now on the table, the Vikings are starting to show their hand.
