Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry was forced to leave the team’s open practice on Sunday. Naturally, the incident sparked plenty of concerns, especially with the 2026-27 NBA season set to begin soon.
Videos of Curry’s injury spread like wildfire on social media. One clip shared by Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports showed Curry trying to make a play after planting his right leg. However, that was when the play stopped, as the Warriors guard was visibly in pain and proceeded to limp off the court.
It was not immediately clear what Curry had injured during the play. According to Johnson, however, the whole arena went quiet as Curry headed to the locker room to get himself checked.
Steve Kerr Announces Steph Curry Injury Update
Fortunately, Curry appears to have avoided a significant injury. According to Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, he spoke with the two-time MVP following his exit from practice and confirmed that Curry was doing “fine.”
“He’s fine,” Kerr said, according to Nick Friedell of The Athletic. “I went and talked to him after he went downstairs, and I went in the training room. He’s doing fine.”
Kerr didn’t say whether Curry will be ready for the Warriors’ season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday. Whatever the case may be, though, the good thing is that it doesn’t look like the star sharpshooter will be sidelined for long.

For what it’s worth, Warriors forward Gui Santos admitted to reporters that the rest of the team was “scared” after seeing Curry limp off. However, he expressed his confidence that his teammate would be okay considering how “tough” he is.
“Of course we were scared,” Santos shared. “But it’s Steph, he’s tough. But he’s gonna be good. Tomorrow he’s gonna wake up and he’s gonna be feeling good. We were definitely worried, but the way that I saw him walking off the court I don’t think there’s something really bad, no.”
