The Kansas City Chiefs are Justin Fields' fourth NFL team in as many years and judging by the early looks in training camp, they may be his last unless he turns things around quickly.
Wednesday saw the first truly bad interception of the season, not just from Fields, but perhaps of any well-known QB in any NFL training camp right now. After taking the pass and dropping back, he completely lost track of linebacker Jack Cochrane as he easily picked Fields off for the interception.
Playing His Way Off the Team?
Chiefs fans that remain understandably worried that Patrick Mahomes won't be fit to start the 2026 season were pretty upset that Fields committed such an easy error and now believe that he shouldn't be QB2. Others believe that Fields is simply washed up:
"This is why Nussmeier should be #2 and Fields strictly in on RPO option routes …. That was horrendous," one user on X wrote.
"KC... Justin Fields may he remain an unused backup," wrote another.
"This is a pass from Fields to Cochrane and you can't convince me otherwise," a third joked.

"Tough look for Justin Fields here 😬 but great rep & awareness by Jack!"
"Yeah can’t wait for some idiot to tell me that Fields is a good QB."
"Justin Fields truthers have no idea how cooked Fields is if he’s getting picked off by Jack Cochrane in 7 on 7. It’s so over. You’re gonna get these Pat White wildcat packages and you will like it."
The past few years have been rough for Fields to say the least. He was solid for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024 but got benched after six starts in favor of Russell Wilson. Then he goes to the hapless New York Jets and immediately gets hurt in the second week before getting benched, getting injured again and finished the year on IR.
It doesn't look like things are going to improve anytime soon.
