San Antonio Spurs fans are concerned for Victor Wembanyama after he left early in the second quarter of Game 2 on Tuesday against the Portland Trail Blazers. While at home, the Spurs want to build on their 1-0 series advantage.
Wembanyama has been the main focus for the Spurs, carrying them in Game 1 on Sunday. He led the team with 35 points and five rebounds on 83.3% shooting from downtown. His impressive playoff debut gave the team the needed energy to set the tone of the series.
Unfortunately for the Spurs, Wembanyama headed back to the locker room in Game 2.

Wembanyama had the ball in the post, and Blazers guard Jrue Holiday was defending him. As the Spurs star tried to make a spin move to evade the defense, Holiday pulled the chair on the young star. The 2026 Defensive Player of the Year lost his balance and fell on the floor.
His head bounced on the floor, and he did not get up for a while. When he was able to recover, however, he struggled to get on his feet. The team had to take him out of the game to check on his condition.
There are concerns over Wembanyama's potential injury. Since it was a hard fall on the ground, there's a chance that the Spurs star suffered a concussion. Shortly after he left the game, ESPN's Shams Charania reported on X that the Spurs have ruled Wembanyama out of the game due to concussion protocol.
Wembanyama finished the game playing 11:41 minutes. He also had five points and four rebounds against the Blazers. Head coach Mitch Johnson put Luke Kornet in the place of the injured star.
Losing Wembanyama is an unfortunate thing to happen for the Spurs. He is the team's No. 1 option on offense and also controls San Antonio's defense. Before tipoff, the team presented the Defensive Player of the Year award to the 22-year-old NBA star.
Wembanyama became the youngest player to earn the DPOY award when it was revealed on Monday. He is the fourth in Spurs history, joining Alvin Robertson (1986), David Robinson (1992) and Kawhi Leonard (2015, 2016).
The Spurs are hoping that Wembanyama's concussion injury will not be serious. The team needs his presence on both ends in their postseason run, as they try to compete for a championship.
