The USMNT faces Peru in an international friendly at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida, marking the start of a new phase for the team following the 2026 World Cup.
Head coach Mauricio Pochettino is using this international window to experiment with a youth-heavy squad as the USMNT begins looking ahead to the 2030 World Cup. Pochettino named a 28-player squad featuring 13 uncapped players, with the group carrying an average age of under 23.
Several key veterans, including Christian Pulisic, Folarin Balogun, and Weston McKennie, are being rested for this window. Meanwhile, young prospects such as 16-year-old Cavan Sullivan are expected to get their first senior minutes for the national team.

Peru, meanwhile, enters the friendly under new manager Mano Menezes after failing to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. La Blanquirroja is also entering a rebuilding phase, although Menezes will still have several experienced players to rely on such as goalkeeper Pedro Gallese, captain Yoshimar Yotún, and striker Gianluca Lapadula.
In the head-to-head history, the United States has a slight edge in the all-time men’s soccer series against Peru. Across seven meetings since 1989, the USMNT has won three, drawn two, and lost two.
