Mauricio Pochettino faces a significant challenge after a key USMNT star was ruled out of the World Cup due to injury, adding to the pressure on the coaching staff as they look to stabilize the roster ahead of the tournament.
This comes after consecutive friendly losses to Belgium and Portugal, bringing the manager's record to 2-7-1 against top-25 teams.
USMNT Star Ruled out of World Cup after Injury
The U.S. national team has suffered a major blow as striker Patrick Agyemang will miss the World Cup. The Derby County forward sustained an Achilles tendon injury during a recent clash against Stoke City, ruling him out of the upcoming tournament.
Agyemang has been a reliable presence for the squad, scoring six goals in 14 international appearances. His absence leaves coach Mauricio Pochettino with a significant gap to fill as he prepares to finalize his roster for the world stage.

His recent performances earned him a return to the national team last month. He featured in friendlies against Belgium and Portugal, though the U.S. struggled in both matches, suffering 5-2 and 2-0 losses.
Playing in England's second tier this season, Agyemang has been in fine form, tallying 10 goals and three assists. His contributions have been vital in keeping his club in the hunt for a playoff spot.
In a statement released by Derby County the club confirmed that Agyemang will be missing out on the World Cup.
“Everyone at Derby County is fully behind Patrick at this difficult time and will continue to support him every step of the way. As a result of this injury, Patrick will unfortunately miss this summer’s FIFA World Cup. At this stage it would be wrong to put a timeline on his recovery,” they said.
With Agyemang now ruled out, Pochettino will have to turn to Folarin Balogun or Ricardo Pepi to lead the line.
