The 2026 World Cup has faced controversy before the tournament started. One of the biggest issues fans have expressed is the high ticket prices for World Cup matches.

USMNT player Tim Weah was open to expressing his thoughts on the World Cup ticket prices and thinks that fans are being priced out of attending the matches in the United States. In an interview wth The Athletic, Weah briefly said the prices are 'disappointing' to see.

The USMNT head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, did not like Tim Weah's comments on the World Cup tickets and believes that players and coaches like himself should not speak on stuff outside the pitch, like ticket pricing.

Pochettino said, "First of all, I think players need to talk on the pitch and play football. It's not his duty to evaluate the prices of tickets."

On the show, Unleashed with Eric Wynalda on GOLZ TV, Eric Wynalda spoke on the controversy that involved Tim Weah and Mauricio Pochettino, which caused a large debate among the USMNT community.

Wynalda expressed his agreement with Pochettino that players like Tim Weah shouldn't comment on things outside of their control.

Wynalda said, "Pochettino, he doesn’t give a sh*t. I loved what he did with Timothy Weah. Again, Timothy Weah, dude, shut up! Nobody’s evil, and it’s not your place to talk about tickets to a World Cup. It’s not. Okay?"

The former USMNT player continued and said, "This isn’t the Grammys. You don’t get to go up there and lecture the public on some political bullsh*t. Nobody cares! Nobody cares. You put the jersey on, put your hand on your heart, and play the damn soccer game. That’s what we care about. And that’s what Mauricio Pochettino has locked in on."
