Like most college football fans and analysts, former three-time national champion (and longtime Michigan destroyer) Urban Meyer had some thoughts on Michigan’s controversial win over Western Michigan over the weekend.
On the latest episode of his The Triple Option show, Meyer was less concerned with the clock controversy and more critical of Western Michigan’s president speaking up about the extra second the Wolverines got after seemingly losing to the Broncos. Meyer feels that the players should have gotten more time to express their frustrations.
“Who gives a [expletive] about the president of Western Michigan?” Meyer said. “I mean, sure, they got to make a statement. I want to hear from the dudes that did it. The AD, the coach, and the player did not do that. I mean, the AD, the president, and the coach did not win that game. You know who did? The players. I want to hear from them. Your heart was just taken from you.”
Where to go from here?
Meyer said that he felt bad for the players and head coach Lance Taylor, musing what a coach can even say to his players after losing in that way.
Ultimately, he believes that the game showed that the Broncos are a better team than people think and that they were clearly the better team in Ann Arbor on Saturday.
“The reality is, Western Michigan has a really good team. … They were the better team on the field in Ann Arbor, and certainly in the second half they were,” Meyer said. “The fourth quarter … The Broncos from the Mid-American Conference were the better football team on the field.”

As for the Michigan Wolverines, their poor showing against Western Michigan has caused a ton of fans to fall off the hype train for both starting QB Bryce Underwood and head coach Kyle Whittingham.
They welcome in the Oklahoma Sooners in Week 2 in a game that many now fear will be an utter embarrassment in Ann Arbor.
