Jalen Brunson’s unforgettable 2026 just added another major moment, and this one has nothing to do with what happens on a basketball court.
The New York Knicks superstar and reigning NBA Finals MVP will host the Season 52 premiere of “Saturday Night Live” on Sept. 26, the iconic NBC show announced Wednesday.
Brunson will make his “SNL” hosting debut alongside musical guest KATSEYE, putting one of the NBA’s biggest stars in the national spotlight shortly before another Knicks season gets underway.
“FIRST FOUR OF SEASON 52!!!” the official Saturday Night Live account announced on X.
It’s another remarkable milestone for a player whose profile has exploded well beyond basketball.
Jalen Brunson Will Host ‘Saturday Night Live’ Season Premiere
Brunson isn’t merely appearing on the show. He’s getting the coveted season-opening assignment.
The Sept. 26 episode will mark the first time Brunson has hosted “Saturday Night Live,” according to the Associated Press. KATSEYE will also make its debut as the show’s musical guest.
The announcement comes after Brunson led New York to its first NBA championship in 53 years and captured NBA Finals MVP honors. He delivered 45 points in the championship-clinching Game 5 victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
That championship run transformed an already beloved Knicks star into one of the biggest sports figures in New York.
Now he’s headed to Studio 8H.
Brunson’s Incredible Year Continues After Knicks Championship
Athletes hosting “Saturday Night Live” remains relatively uncommon, making Brunson’s selection particularly notable.
The timing makes it even more fitting. The Knicks are coming off a championship season, Brunson owns the Finals MVP trophy and New York’s biggest basketball star will now take center stage on one of the city’s most famous television shows.
Brunson has plenty to celebrate before turning his attention fully toward defending the Knicks’ championship.
First, he’ll have to see whether his comedy game can match his fourth-quarter game.
