UFC 329: Conor McGregor's Return Draws 15.9M Viewers, Falls Short of UFC White House

The UFC's two biggest events of 2026 produced a fascinating split decision in the ratings. UFC 329, which featured Conor McGregor's long-awaited return to the Octagon, and UFC Freedom 250, the historic card held at the White House, both shattered viewership records for the promotion.

While the spectacle of McGregor's return drew a massive audience, it was the UFC Freedom 250 card that ultimately secured the win for total viewership.

Viewership Breakdown

Here are some quick numbers at a glance:

Paramount reported that UFC 329 reached a total of 15.9 million viewers across the U.S. and Latin America. In contrast, UFC Freedom 250 reached an impressive 17 million total viewers, according to the UFC.

This means McGregor's comeback fell roughly one million viewers short of the audience that tuned in for the spectacle that took place on the White House South Lawn in June.

McGregor Return Beat White House for One Metric

However, the narrative changes when analyzing the peak concurrent viewership for each event. UFC 329 peaked at a staggering 8.295 million concurrent streams, making it the highest peak for any UFC event on Paramount+ this year.

This number places it second in concurrent viewership in Paramount+ history for live events, trailing only the NFL event Super Bowl LVIII between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs.

The White House card, on the other hand, peaked at 7.925 million concurrent streams, placing third in the platform's history. While more unique viewers watched Freedom 250 overall, more people were simultaneously tuned in during the peak of UFC 329, which occurred during McGregor's main event fight against Max Holloway at approximately 11:30 p.m. ET.

White House Event Was Clearly Better

There is no argument, however, as to which fight card was more entertaining and by all viewing standards.

The main event of UFC 329 itself was a brief affair, ending in just 69 seconds due to a knee injury sustained by McGregor, which gave Holloway the TKO win.

Despite the anticlimactic finish, the sheer curiosity and star power of McGregor were enough to drive the historic peak numbers.

The fights leading up to the main event were action-packed bouts, with fights like the flyweight clash between Brandon Royval vs. Lone'er Kavanagh resulting in an absolute barnburner.

UFC Freedom 250, on the other hand, had a spectacular main event war between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje that resulted in the underdog, Gaethje, winning the undisputed lightweight title.

Every single fight on the UFC Freedom 250 card, including the co-main event between Alex Pereira'sloss to Cyril Gane for the interim heavyweight title, resulted in a spectacular KO or TKO finish.

On top of the main event being more satisfying for the fans, the White House event was a cultural phenomenon that likely drew a broader, more unique audience compared to McGregor's return.

UFC 329, however, proved that McGregor is still a powerful draw, as his return generated the most simultaneous traffic Paramount+ has ever seen for a combat sports event.

Both events now occupy the top three spots in Paramount+ history for peak concurrent streams, alongside the aforementioned Super Bowl.
