The Milwaukee Brewers' first World Series title means a lot to so many people, including captain Christian Yelich. However, the heart and soul of the team wasn't alive to see it.

Longtime Brewers broadcaster Bob Uecker died after the 2024 season, ending a run of 54 years with the organization. In that time, he never got to see Milwaukee win it all, and saw them play in the World Series just once in his life.

When the Brewers celebrated the title at Tropicana Field, Uecker's memory was alive with players and members of the organization continuing to thank him. That included Yelich, who had a message for Uecker in his first comments as a World Series winner.

Here's how Yelich honored Uecker after winning Game 5.

Christian Yelich's message to Bob Uecker

Yelich is the captain and second-longest-tenured Brewer, as he joined the team prior to the 2018 season. He got to play for the team for several years with Bob Uecker calling the games, and he made sure to shout out Uecker after Milwaukee won the World Series.

"I really wish he could've been here to see this, it would've meant everything," Yelich said. "He's been with us a bunch and he's been close to our hearts. This is still for Bob, this is still for Ueck. Uecky I love you man, and we did it."

Over the past two seasons, the Brewers kept their memory of Uecker alive, with manager Pat Murphy mentioning him throughout his postgame speeches. While everyone in Milwaukee is celebrating a World Series championship for the first time, it is a little bittersweet knowing that Uecker wasn't around to see it.

Uecker spent 54 years as a Brewers broadcaster, joining the franchise in just its second year in Milwaukee and remaining there until he passed away. Several broadcasters are synonymous with the teams whose games they called, and Uecker was just another on that special list.

As the Brewers celebrate this title, expect Uecker to be a huge part of it in the city of Milwaukee.
