The UConn Huskies are one of the most attractive destinations for high school recruits. Much of that is thanks to head coach Dan Hurley. Since taking over in 2018, they've made the national championship game three times, winning it all twice.
The team's ability to land highly rated recruits is consistently on display, putting together a top-15 class five times from 2020 to 2025. With many of the top players in the 2026 cycle already committed, Hurley and his staff are focused on the 2027 recruiting class.
They've yet to land a commitment, but are closing in on a few intriguing prospects. Rivals' Joe Tipton revealed that UConn has been named one of the top eight schools for small forward DeMarcus Henry.
The other seven he is considering are the North Carolina Tar Heels, Kansas Jayhawks, BYU Cougars, Kentucky Wildcats, Louisville Cardinals, Ohio State Buckeyes and Arkansas Razorbacks.
Landing his commitment would be a major win for the Huskies. At 6-foot-7 and 200 pounds, he is a five-star recruit, the No. 1 small forward and the No. 5 player in the nation, according to Rivals Industry Rankings.

As a junior at AZ Compass Prep National High School, he appeared in 26 games, averaging 15.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists. He also shot 54% from the field and 35% from beyond the three-point line, according to MaxPreps.
With the 2027 recruiting class earning more attention, UConn will continue competing with top programs in college basketball for elite recruits. Landing a prospect like Henry would give the Huskies yet another talented player to develop under Hurley.
