Former U.S. soccer star Alex Morgan is ready to invest in the future of women's sports.

Morgan, 36, played for the Orlando Pride, Lyon, Tottenham Hotspur and San Diego Wave among other clubs. However, she's best known for her work with the U.S. national team from 2010-2024. Not only did she win the World Cup twice, she finished in the top 10 for goals, assists and multi-goal matches.

"I am so incredibly honored to have borrowed the crest for more than 15 years," Morgan said. "I learned so much about myself in that time and so much of that is a credit to my teammates and our fans. I feel immense pride in where this team is headed, and I will forever be a fan of the USWNT. My desire for success may have always driven me, but what I got in return was more than I could have ever asked and hoped for."

So what's next for Morgan? According to Front Office Sports, her investment firm, Trybe Ventures, will be the lead capital partner for the new women's indoor team golf league, the WTGL.

"I really do think women’s golf has this massive opportunity to just blow up in the way that—over the last few years—we’ve seen in basketball and soccer in the U.S. Just with the valuations of the teams, the expansion," Morgan told Front Office Sports. "So, for Trybe, we felt like women’s golf was a great opportunity, and if we got the opportunity to invest, we weren’t gonna pass that up."

What's the WTGL?

Earlier this month, the LPGA and TMRW Sports announced the formation of the WTGL. It's currently slated to launch next winter.

“Partnering with TMRW Sports on WTGL reflects our belief that innovation can help the game reach new fans and create greater visibility for LPGA athletes,” LPGA commissioner Craig Kessler said. “I’ve seen how new formats can engage audiences while showcasing both athlete personality and performance, and WTGL brings that spirit of innovation to the women’s game. It creates another global stage for our athletes—one that helps fans connect more deeply with them and continues to elevate the visibility and growth of women’s golf.”

Only time will tell if Nelly Korda and the LPGA's brightest stars join the WTGL.
