Olympic icon Simone Biles sparked concerns earlier this June after she revealed a medical emergency that nearly killed her.
While the American gymnast didn't go into detail about what happened to her, she shared a photo of herself wearing a medical identification wristband, revealing that she had been hospitalized.
"I'm not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today's age. But almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card earlier this week," Biles wrote in the caption of her Instagram story.
"This was one of, if not the scariest experience of my life. … I've been in bed resting this week, I'll explain sooner or later but s/o to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited & or sent flowers."

Now, nearly two weeks since she made the post, Biles seems to be recovering well. In fact, she and her husband, Indianapolis Colts safety Jonathan Owens, took a vacation to Belize to relax and unwind.
Unfortunately, while Biles has gotten plenty of support during her vacation, some people couldn't help but criticize her.
After Biles posted several photos from her vacation with Owens on Instagram, a commenter wrote, "Almost died but look at these traveling selfies...."
Amid the negativity, Biles responded to the comment and admitted that such remarks make her "sad." She also explained why she took the vacation and asked for some understanding.
"Ugh these comments make me sad," Biles wrote. "A little over two weeks ago, I experienced a serious medical emergency that could have ended very differently, and this trip has been part of allowing myself to heal & appreciate being here. I hope you understand that life changing experiences can shift your perspective. & that you’re able to extend a little more grace to others moving forward. Have a nice day!"
In another response, Biles shared that she had to take two weeks of bed rest following her near-death experience.
While the 11-time Olympic medalist has yet to share what truly happened to her, she told fans that she's feeling more like herself and that she will explain everything "soon."
