Four years ago, United States figure skater Amber Glenn suffered heartbreak right before the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. She was robbed of her Winter Games debut after testing positive for COVID-19.
Glenn made up for it in the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. She turned in a strong performance in the team competition to help lead Team USA to a gold medal. The 26-year-old, however, committed a critical mistake in the individual short program. This virtually ruled her out of a podium finish in the singles competition.
Glenn had an awe-inspiring routine in the free skate. She bumped up her score to finish a very respectable fifth.

It has now been nearly two weeks since the Milan Cortina Games came to an end. Glenn has been back in the United States for a while now, and she has been embracing her new-found fame.
On Thursday, the three-time U.S. national champion made another major public appearance at the GLAAD Media Awards in Beverly Hills, California. In one of her interviews, the Plaso, Texas native was asked if the reality of her gold medal win had already sunk in.
“Yeah it actually has because I spent so much time [in Italy],” she said. “I was so excited to get back home and rest but I already have another competition coming up so it's back to work.”
Based on her statement, Glenn was hit with a reality check almost as soon as she arrived back on home soil. She’s still riding the post-Olympic hype, but she’s also facing the reality of another skating event coming up.
Glenn will compete in the 2026 World Figure Skating Championships later this month. She has not won the Worlds in her decorated career, and she will be training hard with the goal of securing the elusive title.
The Worlds will take place in Prague, Czech Republic and is scheduled for March 24 to 29.
