Tyreek Hill will watch from outside an NFL locker room when the 2026 season kicks off on Wednesday, but a new update from his agent gives the clearest sense yet of when that could change.
Drew Rosenhaus said Wednesday on “The Pat McAfee Show” that doctors have recommended Hill wait until October to attempt his comeback, timing that rules him out for at least the next few weeks of the season.
Hill caught 119 passes for a league-best 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2023, his best season with the Miami Dolphins after six years with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he helped win Super Bowl LIV alongside quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

A 2022 trade sent him to Miami, and he remained one of the league’s most productive receivers until a devastating injury changed his trajectory.
Hill suffered a dislocated left knee and multiple torn ligaments, including his ACL, in Week 4 of last season against the New York Jets. The Dolphins released him in February of this year, and the eight-time Pro Bowler has spent the offseason rehabbing while remaining a free agent.
Hill has posted several videos of him running routes and receiving mock punts, yet doctors are not rushing his return.
“We’re planning on the safe side,” Rosenhaus said. “We really just want him to be completely healthy.”

Rosenhaus also addressed the interest Hill is generating around the league.
“There’s a ton of interest, as you can imagine, in Tyreek,” Rosenhaus said. “But we just want to make sure that he’s 100% good to go. That may be a month from now, a couple weeks from now. We’re not in a hurry.”
The Chiefs remain one of the only teams that are publicly tied to a potential Hill signing. For now, Kansas City will open the season with its current receiver room, still watching from a distance as Hill works toward a return down the line.
