Tyler Herro's seven-season run with the Miami Heat ended after he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. While it can be considered a fresh start for the one-time All-Star guard, Stephen A. Smith dished out a harsh reality check for him.
The veteran sports commentator stressed the huge difference between living in Miami and Milwaukee. He pointed out that it will be a huge adjustment to make. However, the Bucks are Herro’s hometown team, making a move easier as he’ll be close to family.
"And your heart goes out to guys like Tyler Hero who can ball and others (like) Kel'el Ware, 7-foot-2 dude with a three-point shot," Smith said on "The Stephen A. Smith Show." "I'm here to tell y'all right now, they can act like they don't know all they want to. It's hard going from Miami to Milwaukee. I'm just going to give you a buck or two.
"That is not easy. That is not an easy transition to make. That is not an easy transition to make when you're thinking about your quality of life from Miami to Milwaukee. Oh, my God. I think if it were me, I'd cry. I'd contemplate retirement, to be quite honest with you, just for the locale issues. I'm sorry. That would be me."
The 26-year-old was part of the blockbuster three-team deal that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to South Beach on Monday. The Heat also sent Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Kasparas Jakucionis to the Bucks. However, rumors suggest that the team might move Herro again as Milwaukee could go on full rebuild mode.
He played in just 33 regular-season games last season. Herro underwent surgery in September to alleviate posterior impingement syndrome in his left ankle. The Kentucky product has returned to 100% and will likely contribute consistently to the Bucks or whichever team acquires him.
