Two Moves Titans GM Mike Borgonzi Must Make Before It's Too Late

As more details emerge from training camp, the Tennessee Titans continue to face several difficult roster decisions that have yet to be resolved.

Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi made significant strides this offseason, as the Titans emerged as one of the NFL's biggest spenders in free agency while also making several impactful selections in the NFL Draft. Despite the extensive roster overhaul, the Titans still have two major decisions left to make before the regular season.

Add Offensive Line Help to Protect Cam Ward

The Titans' need for offensive line help has remained one of the few constants from last season to this one. Quarterback Cam Ward was sacked a league-high 55 times in 2025, yet the Titans did little to add a true difference-maker to the unit this offseason.

As things stand, the Titans are expected to have two new starters along the offensive line, but both appear to be short-term solutions rather than long-term answers. The Titans added Austin Schlottmann to take over at center and Cordell Volson to start at right guard. While both players add experience, neither has shown enough in recent seasons to suggest they are game-changing additions the Titans needed after Ward endured constant pressure a year ago.

With several talented offensive linemen still available in free agency, the Titans could be in position to add another veteran before the regular season begins. One logical option is Kevin Zeitler, who spent the 2025 season with the Titans. Although he's entering the later stages of his career, Zeitler remains a reliable veteran who could provide a plug-and-play solution while the Titans continue searching for their long-term answers upfront.

Another intriguing option is Mekhi Becton. Unlike Zeitler, Becton could offer both immediate help and long-term upside, giving the Titans an opportunity to strengthen their offensive line for multiple seasons while providing better protection for their young franchise quarterback.

Trade Will Levis

Will Levis appeared to be a prime trade candidate before and during the NFL Draft, yet he remains on the Titans' roster. After trading up to select Levis in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Titans shifted their direction at quarterback by selecting Ward with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

While Levis still offers youth and untapped potential, his path to meaningful playing time in Tennessee appears limited as long as Ward remains healthy. Rather than keeping him in a reserve role, the Titans could benefit from exploring a trade. Although Levis' value may not be particularly high at this stage, acquiring any draft capital or future asset could prove more beneficial than allowing him to remain buried on the depth chart.

It's also worth noting that the Titans added both Mitchell Trubisky and Hendon Hooker this offseason, giving the team two quarterbacks capable of serving as Ward's backup in 2026.

If the Titans fail to make either move, it would appear they missed an opportunity to fully capitalize on the progress they made this offseason.
