The Kansas City Chiefs are able to take extended looks at players during the first week of training camp due to injuries and players being eased in. WR Andrew Armstrong is one of those that received some work with the first-team offense with WR Rashee Rice (knee) easing back in.
Two more receivers went down over the weekend with WR Xavier Worthy suffering a sprained shoulder, and rookie WR Cyrus Allen suffering a bruised shin. With three receivers down, Armstrong should only continue to see highlighted reps with QB Patrick Mahomes.
Armstrong was an undrafted free-agent from Arkansas in 2025 and spent time with the Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins before landing with the Chiefs in the offseason. He didn't appear in a game during the 2025 campaign.
Who is Andrew Armstrong?
Armstrong, who will turn 26 on Halloween, is a physical specimen at 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds. He spent three years at East Texas A&M before starring for the Arkansas Razorbacks. He caught 56 balls or 764 yards and five touchdowns in 2023. He received another year of eligibility in 2024 and led the SEC with 78 catches for 1,140 yards. He only scored one touchdown, but his 103.6 yards-per-game average pops out.
Armstrong scored an unofficial 9.44 out of 10 on the Relative Athletic Score, which ranked 193rd out of 3,441 wide receivers from 1987-2025. He is quick, but his route running has drawn criticism. He's in a perfect place to hone in on that skill with head coach Andy Reid's offense.
