Drake Maye has been on a heater the last few weeks against the Buffalo Bills, Las Vegas Raiders, and New York Jets. During that time span, Maye has a 10:1 TD-INT ratio and has led New England to three straight victories to get to 4-2 on the season.
During his post-game press conference on Sunday, the third-year quarterback spoke about what has allowed him to be so efficient over his last three games.
“I think trusting what I see on film, trusting what I’m communicating to the guys in the huddle, what we’re doing in the passing game, what we’re trying to get into good run checks, trusting what Coach McDaniels is having in our communication and our relationship,” said Maye.
“I got to do my part and then, from there, let those guys run and make plays, and they were doing that today.”
MVP Maye
During the first three weeks of the season, Maye went up against three division leaders from last season in the Seahawks, Steelers, and Jaguars and struggled mightily with only one touchdown compared to six interceptions.
Doubt started to creep in that defenses had started to figure out last season’s MVP runner-up and that New England’s strength of schedule last season played a factor in his performance.
Since then, Maye has reversed course. He led New England to a road win in Buffalo, where he outplayed the Bills’ quarterback and MVP favorite at the time, Josh Allen. The next week, he tore apart the 3-1 Raiders defense totaling five total touchdowns in Week Five.
While the Jets’ record did not compare to the Bills’ and Raiders’, they have always proven to be a tough matchup for New England during their AFC East showdowns. And Maye once again put on a show with three touchdowns, zero interceptions, and 259 total yards.
Drake Maye has had a roller coaster of a 2026 season so far, but after his ugly start to the season, he has consistently trusted himself and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, and has New England’s offense firing on all cylinders.
Look for Maye and the offense to continue their recent hot streak as they face the Bears in primetime on Thursday night.
