The Baltimore Ravens signed Trey Hendrickson to close out games, and now they’ll have to play one without him. Head coach Jesse Minter said Friday that the outside linebacker is out for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans after a procedure on his injured finger. It is the first game Hendrickson will miss since Baltimore made him the centerpiece of its defense in March.
Minter didn’t sound like a coach preparing for a long absence. “We were able to get the finger fixed,” he told reporters after practice. “We think it’ll be very, very short term, but just in a quick way to get that fixed and get him back, I think that’s going to be best for us moving forward long term.”
Trey Hendrickson played through the injury
Hendrickson hurt his right hand in the season opener at Indianapolis and kept playing. He was limited in practice the past two weeks and wore protective gear in games against New Orleans and Dallas, according to The Baltimore Banner. He has one sack, three quarterback hits and four tackles through three games, per Pro Football Reference’s game log. PFF credits him with 14 total pressures this season, which ranks sixth among 110 edge defenders, along with a 69.7 overall grade.
Baltimore gave him a four-year, $112 million contract that the team called the biggest free agent signing in franchise history.
Minter framed the absence as a chance for the rest of the room. “So excited about the opportunity that that presents for other guys,” he said. Tavius Robinson leads Baltimore with two sacks, and second-year outside linebacker Mike Green is in line to start in Hendrickson’s place. Undrafted rookie Ethan Burke could also see his first defensive snaps of the regular season. “My time is here to show exactly what I’ve been preparing for this whole time,” Green told the team’s website. He had 3.5 sacks as a rookie last season and has one so far in 2026.
Baltimore’s remaining rushers will face a Titans offense that has struggled to score. Tennessee is 0-3 and averaging 12.3 points per game, which ranks 30th in the NFL, and quarterback Cam Ward has been sacked five times this season. Ward also hasn’t thrown for 200 yards in a game this year. Kickoff is 1 p.m. ET Sunday on CBS. If Minter’s timeline holds, Hendrickson’s place on next week’s practice report will be the next sign of how short this absence turns out to be.
