The Kansas City Chiefs remain undefeated through four games, but injuries to wide receivers Tyquan Thornton and Rashee Rice have created serious uncertainty as the team enters its bye week at 4-0.
According to ESPN’s Nate Taylor, Kansas City had expressed interest in a reunion with free-agent wide receiver Tyreek Hill before the weekend developments, and tight end Travis Kelce endorsed the possibility passionately after the Chiefs beat the Las Vegas Raiders 30-27 on Sunday.
“That’s out of my hands, but I know I’d love to have ‘The Cheetah’ back in this building,” Kelce said, per The Athletic’s Michael Silver. “He’s a brother. He’s one of those people who, when he sets his mind to something, he usually delivers. You saw that with Miami, when all the haters were saying he couldn’t play and he went and had his best year. I’d be excited by what he could do (here).”
Silver reported that the Chiefs are “very interested” in bringing Hill back and have already contacted his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Taylor added that Kansas City had shown interest in Hill before the injuries to Rice and Thornton.
Shortly after Thornton went down injured with a dislocated left ankle, Hill jumped on X and posted a cryptic, one-word message: “Hm.”
Thornton was carted off the field in the fourth quarter after a 55-yard reception, with the Chiefs considering Thornton out indefinitely, per ESPN. Rice, meanwhile, left in the first quarter with a right hamstring injury and did not return.

Heading into the bye week, Thornton has 11 receptions for 219 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Rice has hauled in 13 receptions for 190 yards and one touchdown. Hill finished last season with 21 receptions for 265 yards and one touchdown in four games.

According to Silver, the Chiefs believe Hill, who is recovering from a season-ending left knee injury that included an ACL tear, is targeting a November return.
Kansas City has a bye before returning against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6.
