Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs made it official on Monday. After a second consecutive offseason of mulling retirement, Kelce decided to come back for another season with the Chiefs. The four-time All-Pro tight end officially signed a contract extension with the team, which was met with delight by Chiefs fans everywhere.
The team structured Kelce’s deal for three years, worth $54.7 million. However, the contract is designed to relieve Kansas City of Kelce’s 2026 salary cap hit. Despite the deal technically being for three years, the 36-year-old is, at least for now, expected to play only one more season for the Chiefs for a guaranteed $12 million.

Kelce officially put pen to paper on his new deal on Monday at the Chiefs' facility. The team posted several photos and videos of the major development on social media.
After the formalities, the Chiefs decided to give Kelce a special gift. It was a photo of the 11-time Pro Bowler from one of his first times playing at Arrowhead Stadium.
Kelce laughed as soon as he saw the framed picture. He explained how the photo took him back to his younger years. Kelce left fans in tears after the Chiefs’ endearing move.
“Time flies! 🥹” a comment on Instagram read.
“This guy has come a long way! 🥹❤️💛” said another.
Kelce also reflected on an old nickname that he remembered after seeing the throwback photo.
“That’s back, that’s back when they called me ‘hoopsie’ because I had the hoops, and I used to mess up plays all the time,” he said.
The revelation left even more fans in tears. This time around, however, there were tears of joy and laughter.
“If I don’t see the New Heights chat not have Hoopsie I’m gonna be disappointed 😂😂🤣🤣” a comment on X read.
“It's great he remembers his humble start! 🤣🤣🤣” another said.
“Hoopsie Oopsie 😂😂😂🥴🥴” a supporter wrote.

Kelce will return for a 14th season with the Chiefs in 2026. Much like the rest of the squad, the three-time Super Bowl-winning TE is eager to make amends for their disappointing campaign last season.
