Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has yet to decide if he's even returning to playing in 2026, let alone rejoining the Chiefs for another season. If he chooses to retire, he could have a very lucrative position opening up in broadcasting.
According to The Athletic's senior sports media writer Andrew Marchand, Amazon Prime Video could be moving on from color commentator Kirk Herbstreit sometime in the future and has a shortlist of candidates to replace him. The two top contenders are Fox's Greg Olsen and CBS' J.J. Watt.
However, Marchand also identified Kelce along with Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay as the "wild cards" in the eventual Prime Video hiring process.
"If Prime Video moves on from Kirk Herbstreit, it could look at the well-respected Greg Olsen of Fox and J.J. Watt, but the wild cards are Travis Kelce and Sean McVay," Marchand wrote.
The fans weigh in
While fans of Taylor Swift might enjoy hearing Kelce's voice every Thursday night, longtime NFL fans might be far more keen to see Olsen in the role. Many fans already feel that Olsen is the best color commentator in the game today and deserves to be on the No. 1 team for one of the networks that does regular NFL broadcasts.
Kelce, meanwhile, has more than enough critics just of his personality, let alone his abilities on a broadcast headset. Some are already joking that he would be downright impossible to listen to.

Ultimately, we don't even know if Kelce intends to retire, let alone go from NFL playing straight into the broadcast booth like Tom Brady did a few years ago. For all we know he might choose something like coaching, general entertainment or just general business.
What will Kelce do in 2026?
