It looks like Trae Young's debut for the Washington Wizards will have to wait a little longer.

Young was traded to the Wizards on Jan. 6, with Washington sending Corey Kispert and CJ McCollum to the Atlanta Hawks in return. However, Young has yet to suit up for the capital city franchise, as he remains sidelined with an MCL sprain and a quad injury.

Ice Trae last played on Dec. 27. He missed six straight games for Atlanta before being traded. Since joining the Wizards, he has missed 17 straight contests.

On Thursday, as NBA games resumed after the All-Star break, Washington shared an update on Young's status. While he's progressing, he still has work to do to get back to action. That being said, he'll be sidelined for at least another week.

"Wizards say Trae Young, who has been sidelined by a right knee MCL sprain and quad contusion, was reevaluated following the All-Star break and has progressed positively," Marc J. Spears of Andscape and ESPN wrote.

The good news is that Young is ready to take the next step in his recovery, with Spears noting, "He will ramp up his on-court activities, and further updates will be provided in a week."

The update comes a day after Wizards head coach Brian Keefe said Young hasn't been cleared for contact yet.

It's unknown whether contact drills and scrimmages will be part of Young's increased on-court activities. Regardless, he's trending in a positive direction, which should raise hopes of a return to play sooner rather than later.

While Young got a positive update, though, his teammate and fellow trade newcomer Anthony Davis didn't get the same news.

Davis continues to be sidelined with ligament damage in his left hand, and according to the Wizards, he "has not been cleared for basketball activity," per Spears. With that, he's out for another two weeks and will be reevaluated afterward.

AD has yet to play for the Wizards as well, as he last appeared in an NBA game on Jan. 10 when he was still with the Dallas Mavericks.

By the looks of it, Young is closer to returning than Davis. Once the two get back to full health, though, Washington will be an interesting team to watch.

Young has career averages of 25.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 9.8 assists and 1 steal per game. He's a four-time All-Star, establishing himself as a dangerous scorer and shooter.

Davis, on the other hand, is a 10-time All-Star and five-time All-Defensive Team member. The 32-year-old big man has career averages of 24 points, 10.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 2.3 blocks.

Young, Davis and the Wizards' young core featuring Alex Sarr, Kyshawn George, Bilal Coulibaly, Tre Jones and Bub Carrington could be deadly if they are able to click.

The Wizards, who opened the second half with a 112-105 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Thursday, will host Indiana again at 7 p.m. ET Friday.
