The Miami Heat have had a busy offseason thus far as they have made multiple moves to upgrade their roster as they try to bounce back after missing the playoffs last season.
Of course, the biggest move Miami made this summer was acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks, as the Heat will now form a new star duo with him and Bam Adebayo.
Miami also made some other key moves as the franchise added Bobby Portis in the Giannis trade, signed Tim Hardaway Jr. and Nick Richards in free agency and re-signed Andrew Wiggins.

While the Heat have made multiple moves this offseason with hopes of competing at the top of the Eastern Conference this upcoming season, they do still have some glaring holes in their roster.
One of the biggest holes in Miami’s roster is their lack of point guard depth and they could potentially target Chicago Bulls guard Tre Jones to bolster their backcourt alongside Davion Mitchell.

In a potential trade, the Heat could send Nikola Jovic and a 2027 second-round pick from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Bulls in exchange for Jones.
By making this trade, the Heat would improve their depth at point guard while the Bulls would free up more playing time for Rob Dillingham while also adding another key young player in Jovic.

For Jones, he would provide Miami with a reliable scorer and playmaker in their backcourt who is coming off arguably the best season of his six-year NBA career.
Last season, the 26-year-old guard averaged 14.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 55.3% from the field and 31.5% from three.
Jones could fit in well in the Heat’s starting lineup as a key playmaker for Giannis and Adebayo or he could come off the bench behind Mitchell and lead the second unit.

Either way, the young guard could be a beneficial addition to Miami’s backcourt entering the new season as they look to compete at the top of the East and chase a title.
Despite this, Miami could look at other options to upgrade their backcourt ahead of the new season. The Bulls may also be unwilling to move Jones after he played a key role for them last season.
