It has been a disappointing season thus far for the Phoenix Mercury as they currently sit 12th in the WNBA standings with a 10-18 record.
Of course, the Mercury had high expectations entering the season after making it to the WNBA Finals last season, but they have failed to live up to them thus far, resulting in multiple players from their roster to be the subject of trade rumors ahead of Sunday's deadline, including Alyssa Thomas.

While the Mercury could be a seller ahead of the trade deadline, they could also look at ways to add more young talent to upgrade their roster.
If the Mercury decide to go this route, one player they could show interest in is Seattle Storm forward Ezi Magbegor.

For Magbegor, her role in Seattle has taken a major hit this season with Dominique Malonga and Awa Fam taking over the Storm’s frontcourt.
The 26-year-old forward has also struggled to stay healthy after she missed the beginning of the season while recovering from a right foot injury and she played only four games before suffering a facial fracture that currently has her sidelined.
With the Storm prioritizing Malonga and Fam over Magbegor, they could look to move her this season and the Mercury may show interest in the young forward.

In a potential trade, the Mercury could send a package of DeWanna Bonner, a 2027 first-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick to the Storm in exchange for Magbegor.
Moving on from Bonner could be a tough decision for Phoenix to make, though swapping her for Magbegor would allow them to add a key young player to their core while Seattle would add a veteran forward on an expiring contract.

By making this trade, the Mercury would upgrade their frontcourt by adding a great defender in Magbegor who would likely have a much larger role on the offensive end in Phoenix than she did in Seattle.
Despite this, the Mercury may elect to hold off on acquiring Magbegor due to her injuries this season, though adding her to their roster could set the franchise up better for the future.
