Trade Idea has Liberty Acquiring Aneesah Morrow from Sun in Exchange for Veteran Guard

Sunday’s WNBA trade deadline is quickly approaching and trade rumors have begun to circulate around multiple franchises.

One team that has had multiple players as the subject of trade rumors is the New York Liberty as they try to turn things around in the second half of the season.

Of course, New York had a great start to the season as they took home the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup, but they have since fallen to seventh in the standings with a 16-12 record.

Because of this, the Liberty could look to upgrade their roster around Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones ahead of the trade deadline and one player they could target is Connecticut Sun forward Aneesah Morrow.

Mock Trade Sends Betnijah Laney-Hamilton to Sun for Aneesah Morrow

Morrow has emerged as a potential trade candidate ahead of the trade deadline due to her breakout campaign and the Sun holding the second-worst record in the WNBA.

In a potential trade, the Liberty could send a package of Betnijah Laney-Hamilton and a 2027 first-round pick to the Sun in exchange for Morrow.

By making this trade, New York would move on from Laney-Hamilton, who has had a decreased role this season, and replace her with a reliable scoring forward to pair alongside Stewart, Ionescu and Jones.

This season, the 23-year-old forward is averaging 11.1 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game while shooting 40.7% from the field and 28.1% from three.

For Morrow, she would provide the Liberty with a great scorer and rebounder at the forward position who could help boost their chances of making a run at a championship this season.

While this trade could work out well for the Liberty, the Sun may elect to hold onto Morrow if they view her as a key young player to build around for the future.
