Tracy McGrady made it extremely clear this week that he's a big fan of San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama.
Wembanyama, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, has the Spurs back in the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014. He'll try to lead them to victory over Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks.
While previewing the Knicks-Spurs series Tuesday night, McGrady declared that Wembanyama is already the best player in the NBA on both sides of the court.
"He’s the face of the league," McGrady said. "That man is the best player on both ends of the court. No one in our game has the impact that Wemby has on the basketball court, I’m sorry."

NBA fans made it very clear they don't agree with this take from McGrady.
"Wembanyama is a great player, he's a very good defender and, since he's young, might arguably end up as the best defender ever," one fan wrote. "That being said, he's not even near the conversation of the best offensive player in the current NBA."
"Wemby not better than Luka, Jokić, or Giannis on the offensive end," a second fan commented.
"He’s absolutely not the best on the offensive end," another fan replied. "Come on now."
Wemby is ready for the bright lights.
When the Spurs selected Wembanyama with the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, he talked about wanting to bring a championship to San Antonio.
“Some players have tried to win the championship (and) win a ring for years and haven’t made it,” he said. “I don’t want to be one of those. My goal is going to be to get closer and closer every time to the ring and to learn how to make it.”
Well, Wembanyama is four wins away from accomplishing his goal. The French phenom has been highly productive this postseason, averaging 23.2 points, 10.8 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game.
Game 1 of the NBA Finals is set for a 8:30 p.m. tipoff this Wednesdsay.
