The Toronto Maple Leafs have a 27-24-10 record with 64 points in 61 games this season. Toronto is in seventh place in the Atlantic Division. They are on the verge of missing the playoffs after making the playoffs last season. With the trade deadline on Friday, March 6, general manager Brad Treliving has some work to do.

Even with the trade deadline looming, there is a chance that Toronto maybe making changes to the organization once the season ends. Even though Treliving will be making the trades, could be the last time he is able to make moves for this organization.

Another person within the organization that could be in hot water is head coach Craig Berube. After losing in Game 7 to the Florida Panthers last season in the second-round, many people thought Toronto was close and on the verge of being a playoff team again. Instead, they have failed to meet those expectations.

NHL Insider Believes That Toronto Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving and Head Coach Craig Berube Could be on the Hot Seat

Pierre LeBrun of TSN believes that there could be major changes to the Maple Leafs organization once the 2025-2026 NHL season comes to an end. LeBrun said, "I don’t think anyone can answer for sure, whether the GM or coach are back next year." If Toronto misses the playoffs and if they totally bottom out, they may clean house and start all over.

The new regime potentially may decide to trade Auston Matthews and William Nylander in the offseason and begin a massive rebuild. It appears as if this franchise has hit its ceiling with its core. Treliving has been the general manager since the 2023-2024 NHL season. Berube has been behind the bench for Toronto for the last two seasons. It appears as if he may not be behind the bench for the 2026-2027 season.

The reason why they brought him in was because he was behind the bench for the St. Louis Blues Stanley Cup victory against the Boston Bruins during the 2018-2019 NHL season. Toronto doesn't appear to close to winning it all and they haven't won it all since the 1966-1967 season.
