The Pro Football Hall of Fame is overhauling its selection process in a major way. One of the biggest changes is that only 28 people will have the power to vote on which NFL legends get inducted into Canton, Ohio.
Earlier this month, the Pro Football Hall of Fame confirmed that it was reducing its selection committee and bringing back its annual in-person meeting. Additionally, voters will no longer be assigned to specific NFL teams.
“Returning to an in-person meeting with 28 Selectors will create robust, thoughtful dialogue and debate around the candidates being discussed,” President & CEO Jim Porter said. “The goal of the Hall of Fame always has been the election of the most deserving individuals, regardless of category.”
With that being said, it was confirmed this Wednesday that former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy lost his Hall of Fame vote.
Dungy, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016, has not commented on this decision.

Who else lost their HOF vote?
Longtime Houston Texans reporter John McClain revealed this week that he’ll no longer be allowed to vote on who makes the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
“It was a privilege serving on the Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee and representing Houston, the Oilers and Texans, but I was told I didn’t make the cut from 50 to 28, including 3 non-voting members, under the new by-laws,” McClain wrote. “Among the changes, no city or team will have a representative and no more individual presentations for finalists will be made.”
Tennessee Titans Paul Kuharsky also lost his voting privileges. He said, “Proud of the work I did there since 2015 when I filled in for David Climer and 2016 when I got the Nashville slot. Disappointed but who knows with the direction it’s all going.”
Rich Cimini, Rick Gosselin and Lisa Salters are a few other notable names who were removed from the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s voting panel.
