Tom Brady seldom spoke about his relationship with Gisele Bundchen even when they were married and almost never speaks about her now that they're divorced. But on Thursday he opened up more about the divorce than probably ever before.

Appearing on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, Brady spoke about the "personal family issue" he was dealing with between 2022 and 2023 and how it affected his play on the field. He called it "a challenge" and took a lot out of him both on and off the field.

“I was going through, I had a lot of, you know, a personal family issue,” Brady said. “And it was a challenge, and it was very, it just took a lot out of me in terms of, you know, my ability to play.”

Brady said that despite the personal trouble, he gave the 2022 season "everything he had" and only wishes it could have ended better.

“I owed it to my teammates and coaches to give them everything I had,” he explained. “I wish it could have been a little bit better at the end. But it was just a unique situation and a unique year for me.”

No looking back

In the years since their divorce, Tom Brady has mostly remained a bachelor other than a few high-profile dates and encounters. The same cannot be said of Gisele.

Just a few months ago, Gisele secretly died the knot with her boyfriend Joaquim Valente, with whom she already has a child. The two have reportedly kept things courteous out of respect for their two children.

Brady and Gisele finalized their divorce in 2022.
