Legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady is officially considering a move into wrestling.
TMZ Sports' Michael J. Babcock is reporting on Monday that Brady is involved in ongoing discussions with the WWE about a potential partnership. The partnership would include some kind of run/storyline for Brady within the WWE.
This comes in the wake of Brady and Logan Paul staging some kind of fake beef throughout the weekend. Brady "slapped" Paul at Fanatics Fest and the two were seen flipping each other off at the World Cup Final in New Jersey on Sunday.
The WWE is obviously very popular, but it's odd to see Brady - a seven-time Super Bowl champion worth hundreds of millions of dollars - participating in these kind of stunts. They're attention-grabbing and Brady already has a ton of attention on him.
It's coming across as cringe-worthy to many.
Brady's wrestling stunts are not going over well
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy ripped Brady on Monday morning's episode of "Wake Up Barstool."
"This to me, is one of the great downfalls of an icon with Tom Brady. The way he is acting post-retirement, it's a legacy that is being lame-ifyed," he said.
NFL insider Mike Florio added similar thoughts.
"Tommy, you don’t need to do this. You own a piece of the Raiders. You make $37.5 million per year with Fox. You’ve been immortalized in bronze at Gillette Stadium, even though you’re still very much alive. You’ve got a bunch of other stuff going on. Pro wrestling shouldn’t be jammed onto your docket, especially when you’ve publicly written about trying to find 'balance' in your life," Florio wrote.
Ultimately, it looks like Brady will ignore those urging him to stay away from the wrestling world, while trudging ahead toward a potential match with Paul.
