Todd Monken received valuable advice from Deion Sanders ahead of his big decision on who will be the Cleveland Browns' QB1. Coach Prime's son, Shedeur Sanders, is battling for the starting job. Deshaun Watson is considered his main competitor, while Dillon Gabriel and Taylen Green are positioned behind them.
Deion Sanders coached his son throughout his collegiate career with Jackson State and Colorado. He brought out the best in Shedeur Sanders, particularly in the 2024 season. He earned second-team All-American honors and led the NCAA in completion percentage.
Monken revealed that Deion Sanders provided him with information about the second-year quarterback. According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the Browns coach said that "he got some good insight" from Coach Prime. Monken, however, did not provide the details of his conversation with the NFL legend.

Experts and analysts projected Shedeur as one of the top picks of the 2025 NFL Draft. However, he slid to the fifth round before the Browns scooped him up at No. 144 overall.
He was buried in the team's depth chart at the start of last season but started the final seven games. Gabriel suffered a concussion, opening the path for the former Buffaloes star to take over under center. Shedeur Sanders completed 120-of-212 passes for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
Training camp is crucial for Monken in determining who wins the starting role. Watson aims to reclaim his spot after missing the entire 2025 season due to a re-ruptured Achilles.
Meanwhile, the Browns drafted Green at No. 182 this year to provide even more depth. However, he could surprise many by climbing up the QB room ladder with impressive training sessions.
